14. Title: Role of Hand Dominance in Recovery from Cervical SCI

Purpose: To determine the relationship between hand dominance and motor recovery in incomplete cervical spinal cord injury (SCI).

Principal Investigator: Anthony S. Burns, MD

Background: In a telephone survey, former patients of the RSICDV who had been admitted to the Center with incomplete cervical SCI were contacted to learn whether they were right- or left-handed. The purpose was to use a retrospective analysis of neurological assessment at admission and one year or later post-injury to determine if hand dominance plays a role in recovery from cervical SCI.
