Adam E. Flanders, MD, is a Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine and of Radiology at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. He is also Co-Director of the Division of Neuro-Radiology/ENT at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital where he is also the Director of its Division of Radiology Informatics Research.
A prolific writer of numerous peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and book chapters, Dr. Flanders has also led numerous workshops and lecture series on the application of MRI, particularly its use in the evaluation spine and head trauma. In addition, he has presented the findings of his research at national and international conferences.
His research interests include spinal trauma, spectroscopy, and functional magnetic resonance imaging (FMRI). Dr. Flanders is the co-investigator of several grant-funded projects involving the use of MRI, including the uses of MRI in assessing the severity and forecasting of outcomes of spinal cord injury, for which he was the principal investigator.
Dr. Flanders professional memberships include The Radiological Society of North America, The American Society of Neuroradiology, The American Spinal Injury Association, The Cervical Spine Research Society, The American College of Physician Executives, The Society for Computer Applications in Radiology, Society of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, American Society of Spine Radiology, American Medical Informatics Association. He is also a reviewer for Reviewer, Neuroradiology. American Journal of Neuroradiology. The New England Journal of Medicine. Radiographics, and RSNA-EJ, The Radiological Society of North America Electronic Journal. He also serves as a medical review and policy consultant for Independence Blue Cross.
