The artist description of the work: Recovery II attempts to reflect the strenth, determination and grace of a woman with paralysis to rise from a chair. Recovery from paralysis may be the result of either functional retraining or nerve regeneration to leg muscules in the future. As in Recovery , the legs are frozen the rough cut stone, but there is less outward tension in rising. The musculature is that of a young woman, but note the muscle development of the back required for mobility. The lines of the neck, arms and hands, however, reflect a more inner graceful fortitude. The curve from the upward titled head arising from the bosom portrays this spiritual message of strength with grace.
